Dublin Airport: Welcome to Ireland
Dublin has one airport with one terminal that is located about 10 kilometers north of Dublin’s center. Aer Lingus, which is Ireland’s flag carrier airline, flies to Dublin from the U.S. and from many other major European cities. Aer Lingus fares tend to be lower than those of other carriers, but many say that they’ve achieved this result by lowering service standards to those of other budget airlines.
Ryanair, which is Europe’s largest budget airline, has a hub at the Dublin Airport. From Dublin, it flies to European cities including Paris, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Madrid and Frankfurt.
Although its fares do tend to be low, last-minute bookings on Ryanair tend to be higher than last-minute bookings on other airlines.
Most check-in desks at the Dublin Airport are on the first floor of the building, with the exception of Aer Lingus’ UK, London and German flights, which use a check-in area that is one level below the main arrival level.
Passengers are advised to check in at least 90 minutes before their flights depart; passengers on long-distance flights can check in three hours before flight departure and passengers on European flights may check in two hours before flight departure. Certain airlines allow self service check-in and online check-in through kiosks located throughout the terminal.
Make sure to pack all of your traveling essentials like battery chargers and adapters.
