Arriving At Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport
Both domestic and international flights to Sydney arrive at the Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), 10 kilometers from Sydney’s city center. The Kingsford Smith Airport is Australia’s busiest airport, served by over 40 international airlines, and the main hub for Qantas.
The International Terminal T1 and the two Domestic Terminals T2 and T3 (Qantas Terminal) are located separately. Domestic terminals T2 and T3 are within a short walking distance from each other, but buses, trains and taxis operate between T1 International and T2/T3 Domestic terminals.
The T-Bus is a cheap shuttle bus service between T1 and T2 /T3.
Bus stops are located at Arrivals levels, at T1 Bus Bay 21 and T2 Bus Bay 3. The Airport Link rail service provides a cheap train transfer between the International and Domestic terminal buildings. Qantas and Virgin Blue provide additional transfer services for their own passengers.
The Airport Link also operates a train service from the airport to Sydney’s city center. There are train stations at both Domestic and International Terminals, accessible from Arrivals level. The Airport Transfer bus service operates between all terminals and major hotels and backpacker hostels in Sydney.
Special amenities inside Sydney’s International Terminal include complimentary showers, a medical center, baby change rooms equipped with microwaves for heating milk formula, and a kids’ cinema near Gate 33.
The Sydney Airport operates a nightly curfew between 23:00 and 6:00. Domestic Terminals shut down completely during the curfew, while the International Terminal T1 has a transit area with some facilities.
